How the Tulsa Dream Center Began
It was 1998 when the late Billy Joe Daugherty read in the paper that the 46th Street North and Cincinnati area had the highest crime rate in the city of Tulsa. He knew we had to help turn the tide of violence and bring peace to this area. He began visiting the neighborhood in search of property to build a facility that would service the needs of the community.
Within a few days two sisters contacted Billy Joe about an 80-acre farm their grandfather owned at 46th Street North and Cincinnati. They wanted to see the land used for an outreach center for the community.
On a monthly basis, Billy Joe and a team of volunteers would travel to North Tulsa where they would set up a tent for families to come and find hope, wholeness, and the encouragement to dream big dreams and watch those dreams become a reality.
His vision was to see thousands of hurting people restored and empowered to achieve the dreams in their hearts. This vision continues today with over five-hundred families per week coming to the Dream Center for help in our areas of outreach from caring and loving volunteers.
The Tulsa Dream Center is now a place where restoration, healing, and hope are taking place daily. TOGETHER, We can build a dream with love! Help us by becoming a Dream Builder today.
